Bank account for dd without going into a branch?

Dd is almost 14 and would like a bank account where I can put her pocket money each week into and she can use a card to withdraw money when she needs it.

I tried to set her up a bank account but it says I have to go to a bank with her to conform who she is etc..
We live in a rural location and all the local banks have been closed down, we have mobile banks but they visit once a week, usually when I’m working and when dd is at school so it’s hard to get to a bank.

Is there a way of setting up an account with a bank of building society online without going to a branch?

Can anyone recomend a suitable bank account for a 14 year old?

Have you tried First Direct? As far as I know they don't have branches. Worth a quick look online.

I opened a Santander mini 123 online for my DS(12). I was already a Santander customer though, but sure if that makes a difference.

Sanander might be an option, I think we do still have a branch near by so I could possibly get her there next week if they needed to see her. I will have a look and see if we can set it up online.

I opened a current account for my ds last year and it was like a 45 min interview with the bank manager

As children's identities cannot be verified online using things like the electoral role and credit checks, you will have to go into a branch with id to open an account.

Hi.. Not sure if it would be suitable, but we have a Go Henry account for our 9 year old. It works brilliantly for us. No ID needed. We pay pocket money in weekly.

Delilah my sons ID was verified online.

I opened one for my DS online didn't have to go into a branch at all. He's got a debit card as part of the sea

First Direct do not do any children's accounts. HSBC were great with DD as she had an existing account and was able to upgrade it with a cash card. I had trouble with Ds2 with The Halifax to upgrade his account, loads of paper work was needed. Santander were great with opening his account, with minimal paper work, although both accounts required appointments and the need for parent and child to be there in person.

Works really well for us
