Power of Attorney

Someone tell me about Power of Attorney, please! My 79yo mum has had a few health wobbles lately and although I'm hoping it's just a blip, it's made me wonder about making plans for the future. How is PofA arranged and what does it allow you to do? How much does it cost? Tia.

Yes- there is one tihs weekend at Edinburgh Zoo. But you will be on your way back to Nigeria. Not sure where your UK home is now (when you are back in the UK) - I know it used to Aberdeen.

I would reccomend seeing a solicitor specialised int his area rather than doing it DIY. It is not that expensive. DIY ones can cause more problems that they are worth, and can lead to more costs being incurred if it needs sorting out later!

Needs to be done sooner rather than later, before mental capacity is diminished.

If mum agrees to do it, it will be done properly, Hulababy. I've read too much about the pitfalls of DIY wills etc to go it alone!

Hope the meet-up went well, PB. Is the weather still good? It's raining and horrid here!

I have used the downloadable forms and managed to sell a house, open and close bank accounts and sort out pensions and benefits so they are not all bad!
