UK - Does anyone claim benefits for endo ? I have had it for 6 years laparoscopy, removal of scarring and lesions to ovary and cysts each time. I literally have got to the point where my sex life is non existanct and ruining my relationship and i literally just cant focus on my work anymore i get to work sit at my desk and all i think about is getting back into bed i don't work i just worry about pain and go on the internet so get behind at work and then get stressed im behind making me even more stressed. I'm like a walking zombie i feel permanent exhausted and i only work 9.15am - 2.45pm school hours to so school run. I don't want to give up work but i cant cope anymore. I feel like i need a break from life.

You may be entitled to ESA, but it would depend on either your household income or NI contributions. You can find more info on the Gov.uk site.

It would probably be only about half your current wages though. Entitled.com may help you also.

I'm not sure that giving up work to go onto benefits is the answer (not sure if you can) but could you get signed off for a little while? It sounds like you need a break.

how old are you? Had to have hysterectomy in the end because of mine. Unfortunately always have had to work. Think you need to speak to your doctor, you can't keep going on like this.

JellyBean89 · 21/11/2017 16:49

Unfortunately it isn't classified as a disability so you wouldn't be able to get any allowance due to it. Not unless it is so bad that you are wheelchair bound and even then I'm not so sure. I know there was a petition years ago to get it recognized but I don't think it got anywhere. However I do think your doctor can sing you off for a bit and you can get sick pay for that, so maybe that's worth looking into. Sorry it's so bad x

Claiming a disability benefit like PIP isn't based on your diagnosis but rather on the way your illness affects you and affects your mobility and activities of daily living. However if you can wash and dress yourself, communicate, mix with people etc which I assume you can if you hold down a job then you may not score enough points to get an award. Pip i hard to get. If you did have to give up work then you could get Contributions based ESA assuming you have worked enough the last few years and paid full national Insurance contributions.

I think you should get signed off sick for a couple of weeks at least. Don't give up your job without some serious thinking first as the hours do sound very convenient. Go back to GP and say what you've said in your OP.

I wasn't wanting to give my job up. I would struggle to get a local job with good pay and great hours like i have i don't dislike my job it is perfect i just feel like i cant cope. I suffer with depression and its been a terrible year my fiance smashed our car up in Jan and it got us into some financial difficulty now were both just miserable struggling stressed i have other health issues too i just feel like i need a break but i'm worried the financial implications will make things worse in the end. I was thinking Just have a amount of time off a month or two maybe but wondered if i could claim anything to top up while i'm off as SSP is very low and i have a mortgage to cover etc.

While you are only getting SSP, if your household income is low enough to claim working tax credits then that could be an option although they are worked out on a yearly basis and if you have been working most of this tax year already you would be unlikely to qualify. Contributions bases ESA is an option if your sick pay runs out. However Pip is a long term disability benefit and not really designed to help with a short term drop in income- it can take months from the initial application call to getting a decision so I'm not really sure it would be appropriate in your situation ? By all means gets signed off for a few months but realistically I don't think there is much financial help available in the same way that there isn't for someone going through cancer treatment or recovering from an operation. A working partner rules you out of much help I'm afraid.

Almostthere15 · 22/11/2017 20:25

It sounds like you're having a really tough time op. Are you having treatment for depression. The internet behaviour could well get you in trouble with work so is there anyway you can try and manage this behaviour? I really identify with it so I'm not unsympathetic but it must be making things worse for you.

Are you sure you're only entitled to SSP, it sounds like you could do with a break
