Insurance company being cheeky re damage to car

My car was damaged by a debris from a skip truck (the company admitted liability) and its insurer is handling the claim. I supplied them with a quote for repair from an Audi authorised repairer (£2,500) and the insurer also sent an assessor around to look at the damage. Today I have received a cheque from them for £1,500 to "mitigate my damages".

Please can anyone tell me whether I am entitled to demand they cover the full cost of repair by an Audi authorised repairer?

Ask them where they got the figure from that they have paid as a starting point.

How old is your car and what is it’s valuation?

Christ what was the damage? Huge chunks of concrete crushing your bonnet? Confused

You don’t have to accept the cheque, likewise they don’t have to agree to the Audi repairer costs if they can repair your vehicle for £1500. I’m surprised they haven’t contacted you to discuss options though.
“Mitigate your losses” is not the same as settlement either. It means to keep costs down and not pay top dollar for everything just because the insurance is paying.
Did you speak to them last week?
