Help!Last month I noticed a debit of 26 pounds $49 on my visa bill. When I checked with them as I didn't ercognise it they said the same amount had been taken for the last 5 months!I didn't notice it I told them it wasn't mine but they are powerless to stop it unless you say it is a fraud (which i did)and fill out a form saying so.I haev done this but heard nothing and it has been debited again this month.I don't know what to do!I am thinking of transfering the balance and closing the account but I am loathe to do this as I have had my barclaycard for yrs and have a very good credit limit and rate and I am forever getting offers etc from them.Has this happened to anyone else?It is a co in US selling stationery but they never answer the phone!

Your gonna have to keep pushing Barcleys to get to the bottom of this.

Any idea how they could have got your card details?

Linnet · 16/04/2007 22:56

Have you phoned Barclays back to ask what is happening? Why if you've filled in the form has it been debited again?

Surely if it's been brought to their attention they should have put a stop on it straight away.

I had fraud on my barclays account last year and, after a lot of form filling and hassle, they refunded all the money I'd lost. Also, report it to the police (you should be able to do this online) so they'll take it more seriously.

As you have filled in the form to declare it as fraud you will get it back but they are incredibly slow off the mark - I spotted a little tiny fraud and notified the card issuer (egg) immediately, they supposedly froze the card but then a couple of big transactions (well, £750 each) were allowed through in France about 2 weeks later

Then we signed the fraud declaration and then they credited all the dodgy transactions.

Thanks everyone.I have no idea how they got my details it is very worrying.Glad to hear there may be an end to it though

No, we don't know how they got ours either, noddy - not just the card and security code but our address too. And it's still out there, we had a call the other day about an attempted use at an NCP car park (they don't use PINs apparently )

Have Barc cancelled the old card and issued you a new one?

2cheekymonkeys · 16/04/2007 23:07

My fraudster had card details including the 3-digit one on the back and my address, which he gave for billing when he spent hundred on new tyres. Cheeky b**rd. No idea how he got them.

noddyholder · 16/04/2007 23:30

No it was done online!!!!!!!I still have my card and it has not been cancelled. It is a direct debit type thing but on a card and they say they can't cancel it but nor can I as the company number as quoted on my bill is not replying. It is a US number for a stationery company and it is as if I have set up an order with tehm but I haven't

Then they should cancel your current card and issue a new one with another number - then the direct debit thing won't work any more - honestly they keep on at us to keep our details secure blah-blah and then when some crim gets hold of them they do nothing to stop them. Tossers.

Ring them up and stamp your foot, noddy.

(Ours was online too to begin with by the way)

noddyholder · 16/04/2007 23:38

I plan to ring them tomorrow.I am going to transfer my balance and close the account if they don't do something before it gets taken again next month
