Junior ISA/Savings advice/alternative recommendations for teens

Hi there

Any thoughts on this, please?

A lump sum (c 5/6k) has come to us (plus a bit more we have saved over the years for the children) which in years gone by would have just gone into an ISA or some kind of high interest savings account to put towards University.

However, the rates are so low - would be difficult to know what to do with it.

What's the best thing to do with it; not needed for 2/3/4 years.

Any thoughts/ideas/experience/advice would be most gratefully received.

Thanks so much.

I know they have the lists of best savings rates etc printed in the papers at the weekend, but they're all much of a muchness rate-wise...except every now and gain they offer a bonus rate which is withdrawn say 6th months later so you're back down to 1.04% or whatever. Its Halifax at the mo, I think.

I bought the Sunday Times this week actually, and they had the last of a 4 part series of what experts would do with £10000 to invest.

We're not quite at that level but it was an interesting read; i know nothing of that world, but it would be interesting to read the other three parts to the series.

But its behind a paywall...anyone have a Times subscription that could look at the last 4 Sunday money supplement and pass on a screen shot maybe??

Ha...cheeky!
