Money saving tips/best supermarket for own brand

I've decided to take a career break to spend time with my DCs while they're little. So our money is going to drop significantly. We've saved a little to help get us through, but I'm going to have to budget a lot to make this work. I've scoured Martin Lewis' site and got a few ideas on saving money from there, but I'm looking for some good tips that aren't too time consuming. (Essential with a baby and a toddler to look after). For instance I'm keen to swap a lot of my branded products for own brand, but I don't have the time to go to different supermarkets for different things, so which supermarket does the best own branded stuff overall?? And any other money saving tips you have would be amazing. Thank you!

Shop in Aldi. 99% of what you need without the temptation of hundreds of brand / luxury options. It's also so much quicker and I find far less hassle (once you get used to the check outs!) just done be sucked in by the (random crap) aisle and come out with an inflatable mattress and set of pallet knives! All their fruit and veg, tinned goods, cheese and meat is great

I'm not Ina tight budget but still shop in Aldi because I like it! When I do shop in Saino's or Morrisons I am shocked how long it takes, how much unnecessary choice there is (like 85 types of onions) but also how much more I spend!

Two votes for aldi. I'll give it a go.

Online shopping is very good at helping you keep to a budget, plus you don't need to use petrol to get to the shop. I use Tesco and do buy lots of own brand items, spend £60 per week for two adults and teen DD.

We do an online shop at the moment. Sainsburys. But I buy pretty much all branded products. I'm a marketeer's dream. We do meal plan though, which helps. I could probably do this better though. I've been searching for some good weekly family meal plans on Instagram, but haven't had much luck. Anyone come across any?

Aldi here too. Everything except the washing liquid, which stinks. And you can get some household stuff cheaper elsewhere.

Aldi own brand is generally better than other supermarket stuff, as well as cheaper.

I do an online shop with Ocado when funds are low (mainly so i am not tempted to buy loads of unnecessary stuff) and their value range is really reasonable and excellent quality. Lidl or Aldi for fresh meat, it is heaps better than Sainsbury's or Tesco. I like Iceland for frozen veg and potato products too.

Aldi premium washing up liquid beat fairybin Which? tests and I find it great. And the Lidl version

Try Aldi and Lidl. I think prefer Lidl if it's a recently upgraded store as they do carry a few brands e.g. Heinz beans, green giant corn my little monkeys refuse to ditch. Their fresh bakery things are fabulous too.

Tend to do a monthly big internet shop for bulky stuff like washing powder etc (sensitive skins!) and the brands we do stick with, then 3 out of 4 weeks it's Lidl or Aldi.

Nobody has even noticed about any difference in food.

Aldi for us too. There's a few things i go elsewhere for - Asda smart price dishwasher tablets are cheaper, and Aldi only sell squash containing aspartame so i buy squash elsewhere - but we buy the bulk of our groceries from Aldi. Nobody had noticed since i started shopping there.

Meal planning and finding lots of free and cheap stuff to do with your kids and family.
