Brief history. Claimed ctc after Ds1 was born. No award due to my salary pre birth. Following year small award. Husband went from tiny part time wage to self employed. He has not put in any tax return yet, has to do it by end Oct I think. New baby and separation Feb 2017. I've told them of this, cancelled claim, with him.been sent new claim form. Several times I've queried what I do about his earnings (or not, I don't know what he earns)

Got a letter after cancelling claim saying £500 overpayment. Now I'm really worried that when he puts his tax return in, there will be another overpayment.

In the meantime I can claim on my own, should I do this and pretty much bank the money in case of overpayment? I don't know what to do and am already really struggling financially.

What rate do they want payback to be made at? Of course I am happy to pay, but just really worried I'm getting it wrong. I've no experience of this and have tried to do it properly and today realize that I may have messed up. I always thought the payments were based on the previous year? Hence me not getting payments when I was on mat leave the first time.
