Is anyone hot on consumer rights?

I bought a skirt in Debenhams for £25 without trying it on.

Got it home and the zip is sewn up so that it will only undo about 3 inches.

I have no receipt.

It has now been reduced to £12.50.

On all the skirts that are there the tickets have been changed in pen to £25, mine still states £25 - there are no skirts there in my size.

I have been offered an exchange to the value of £12.50

Can I insist on £25 back in cash?

Don't think so but you could take it up with the manager. Do you have any record of the transaction on your credit card statement?

Are you saying that all the skirts still in the shop are marked for sale at £25, or is that a mistake? Either way, you are not usually entitled to cash back without a receipt - although you could argue that the skirt is not fit for the purpose that it has been sold for as it is faulty. In this instance you are entitled to cash - some shops will try to fob you off with a credit note - but normally you still have to show a receipt. (So they know it hasn't been nicked!)

how did you pay for it? It it was cash you are buggered, if it was credit card ot debit card you will be able to get a transaction number or proof via your card.

I did thi with some trs I wore for about a month and then the pockets went. I felt a £60 pr of trs should have lasted so I took them back with just the date I bought them on. They went back thoughthe card recipts/transactions for that day and found mine. Full refund

agree with the others...

if you have the transaction on a card statement that is enough to request a refund of £25, as its prrof of purchase

without prrof of purchase i think thay can only offer current selling price

can you find a receipt at all?

oh yes.... u are entiteld to demand money... credited back to your card if thats how you paid, or £12.50 cash because the skirt is faulty
