Tax credit renewal taking ages.

I renewed my tax credits on 12 July, rang today as I've had no renewal notice nor any changes to my payments and they said it is still in the process of being finalised and may not be done until 13th September.

It's always been pretty quick in previous years.
Has this happened to anybody else?

Yeah ours was forecast to take about 8 weeks and I did it pretty much as soon as it came in. Probably took about 7 weeks in the end (although it was wrong!)
Quicker if you do it over the phone apparently

Thanks, I did phone them but used the automated service so didn't actually speak with an advisor.
Also my declared income was less than my P60 due to mat leave so wondering if that is what's taking them so long to check up on?

It's a long time to wait though, especially as I'll probably have an overpayment to pay back, as I do every year predictably.

Yeah it's crazy that it takes so long. Just volume I guess

Our declared income was less than p60 due to allowable deductions and we didn't hear anything after submitting the required evidence to them. Last week we received a letter saying we had sent no evidence and not responded to their letter so they were going to use p60 figures. This is after I phoned several weeks ago to make sure they had received my
Documents and they said everything was fine and renewals are just taking a while. I have now had to resubmit my documents by tracked post and ask for a mandatory reconsideration.

Thanks for letting me know that having
I've never made the allowable deductions for mat leave previously as I wasn't aware of this being allowed but as it brought my earnings down by over 2K I thought that it was worth mentioning.
Now I'll fully expect them to just use the P60 figures.

Give them a ring and make sure they have received your revised figures. Our allowable deductions were £2600 so I'm hoping they accept the mandatory reconsideration as it makes around £1000 difference to our tax credit entitlement.
