I bought a car a coulple of years ago from a local dealer. I took it back to them for a service and they told me it needed various things doing. One of which was the drivers side whell bearing needed replacing. I paid them to do the jobs and believed they'd been done.
On collecting my car it was making a horrible grating noise on the drivers side wheel. I reported this to the garage and they took it in to see what was wrong. The wheel bearing was faulty and needed repairing again. They said they'd ring me when they had one in to fix it. I spent the next few weeks ringing them and calling in until eventually a month or so later they fixed it. They seemed very slack.
Weeks later they sent me a customer questionaire asking about the standard of service I'd recieved and I told them exactly what I thought of their crappy garage.
In return they offered me a free service. I took this offer up in November of last year. They said the drivers side anti-roll bar needed replacing.
Foolishly I believed them and asked them to do the repair which would cost me £156.
Again they said they'd order the parts and let me know when they were in. The same as last time, they haven't called to say they want the car in, so I thought "balls to them", I'll take it somewhere else.
Lo and behold, I took it in to our regular garage and there's bugger all wrong with it!
Appart from the wheel bearing they replaced last year needs replacing again, suggesting it was incorrectly fitted the second time they did it.
I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how to make sure these rip off merchants get their just desserts?
