Hi mums,

I would like your help. I have decided to start a new online bookstore, focusing only on ages 0-5. I have just designed a logo and would like to know your thoughts before I make it official? Could you please let me know what you think and your initial reactions to the logo? Suggestions? Any feedback?

Very grateful for your help,
Thanks

Logo looks fine. But how is your bookstore going to work? You're going to need an awful lot of stock. Is it somewhere where people will come to to shop, or is it an online shop?

paradise984 · 10/08/2017 10:56

Thanks for your feedback. It will be an online shop.

I doubt you will be able to compete with the book people or Amazon.

Heratnumber7 · 10/08/2017 11:05

That's what I was thinking AndNow.

OP - how about an actual shop, where people can bring their children to look at the books, and have tea and cake? Much more pester power, and you'll get people on rainy school hols who want to get out of the house!

Have you found a customer base? As above this age group is really well catered for with Usborne, the book people, Amazon and other similar companies

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 10/08/2017 11:07

The logo is great, very colourful and makes it quite clear the age group you are aiming at, however as has already been said, can you compete price wise with amazon and the book people?

paradise984 · 10/08/2017 11:12

Hi all,

Thanks for the great response. The bookstore is not aimed for customers in the UK. It is for customers in Asia, where there's still a gap in the market for children's books - especially babies and toddlers.

Regarding the logo - do you think it's positive, friendly? too obvious? too bright? This is the sort of feedback I'm looking for especially around logo and name of store.

Thanks!

Ah - you should have said that in your opening thread OP!

You ought to get advice from some Asian mumsnetters then. Logos don't always translate well between cultures.

For example, would they know what "Incy Wincy" means? And who knows whether or not a spider is an offensive image in Cambodia, for example :)

paradise984 · 10/08/2017 12:01

I wanted an initial reaction to the logo - with no background.

I have done focused research in the countries that I am targeting as well :-)

I know not advice on the logo, but just wanted to point out that the name might be tricky for an online bookstore. There are lots of ways of spelling 'Incy Wincy' (Incy Wincy / Incey Wincey / Insy Winsy/ Insey Winsey), which may cause confusion with customers getting your website URL wrong.

Are you aware that the rainbow is now a symbol of gay pride? Pretty universally recognised that it suggests tolerance for all types of relationships. I, therefore, love it but are you sure of your market being as tolerant?

parrotseatemall · 10/08/2017 13:24

It's cute but I don't like the spider colour or the font. I wonder, being Asia, if you could give the spider a kawaii look. The font chosen looks a bit amateurish somehow.

I wouldn't worry about the rainbow being a gay symbol at all! Rainbows are very popular in Asia.

parrotseatemall · 10/08/2017 13:26

A more kawaii look I meant. The eyes could be that 'cute' style rather than the round eyes it has now. I really do think you should go with a different brown or else grey or black.

Heratnumber7 · 10/08/2017 13:37

I think it's fine then - though I would argue that you're not opening a bookstore, you're starting an online book buying facility. That isn't a bookstore.

rizlett · 10/08/2017 13:40

I'm not sure your logo actually pictures enough what you are selling - unless we're assuming everyone knows the incy wincy story.

I'd try and make it more simple and have a book somewhere in there.
