Can I get a mortgage if I've just got a new job?

Apologies if that's a daft question, I just need to know whether it's a problem.

We're about to put the house on the market -and I've just been offered a new job. I need to check what the probation period is - 6 months I guess - will this effect getting a mortgage, does anyone know?

I think so, I think they need to see X amount of payslips from your employer and a letter confirming your are permanent.

Or rather this is how it used to be.

Thanks Sherlock, I can do 6 months of payslips - it's the "permanent" business I'm worried about, if technically, you're on probation. I've no reason to think they won't keep me on after the probationary period - DH had a bad experience though last year and it's made us wary.

nah, don't worry, I very cheekily made our offer on our house as SOON as I got my jbo offer, applied for the mortgage etc! My employer had to write a letter detailing my employment, and the fact that I was on a probationary period AND on a 3 yr contract post didn't stop our mortgage.

Hope you get yours go for it.
