Will a tax rebate affect Universal Credit

I overpaid my tax last year so have been awarded a refund of £1500 which is great news as I have been struggling to find a job.

As I get Job Seekers allowance, do I need to inform the DWP of my refund and will it affect my payments in any way?

Thank you.

Not unless it's over £6000 which it isn't.

If you are on UC - then Babyroobs is wrong as she is assuming it is capital.

If the refund relates to a period in which you were in paid work, then it is treated as earned income for the current universal credit period.

I got the refund as I was out of work for half of the tax year it applies to. I'll just tell them about it and take it from there.

Here is the DWP guidance which confirms what I said:

It is paragraph H3022 that explains.
