Prudential LGPS AVC question

Hi,

I have an AVC for my pension through Prudential on the local government pension scheme but need to cut back my outgoings urgently and so I am suspending my payments but if I was to cancel, would I be able to get back my contributions to date? If I could that would solve a lot of my problems and I would restart and build it up again in a couple of years....

You can't get back your contributions unless you are over 55

Thanks, that's what I was thinking....

You used to be able to get contributions back if you'd paid in for less than 2 years, certainly on personal pensions, but it's a fair few years since I've worked in insurance.

You can get your contributions back from an COMP or a CIMP (never a personal pension) if you leave employment with under 2 years service.
