We're driving in Spain and France for a few weeks and want the best deal with car insurance.

Does anyone have any experience?
Thanks!

Your existing provider should already cover you? Look on the back of your certificate for the 'green card'. It should indicate the countries covered.

Most existing insurance policies will cover you for certain amount of driving abroad but...

YOU MUST GET EUROPEAN BREAKDOWN COVER

WelshMoth · 29/07/2017 22:36

I meant Breakdown.

Voice of bitter experience here too and I don't want a repeat performance of THAT. Car broke down was beyond repair which led me and DH on a merry dance to
Try and get a hire car (which ended up too small to carry out tent etc) and we were unable to continue our holiday.

That's a very shortened version. I can't go through that again.

If you drive around France, how much do you usually pay?

The price is usually dependent upon the age of the car etc, again you should be able to tag it on to your existing cover with your existing provider. Or have a look on the MSE website?

I don't know how much it is seperatly but I normally tag it on my my insurance policy. I think it normall adds about a hundred quid.

WelshMoth · 30/07/2017 16:32

I called my insurance company and they transferred me to RAC who wanted £230!

Then, I've gone through MSE and found one for £120 - I'll all them tomorrow because one of the clauses isn't clear.

Thanks all Flowers
