CSA - Can anyone help with some information?

Dp had a letter today informing him it is going up by quite a lot. We are absolutely devastated as we are only just scrapping by and I hoped to become a SAHM in July. But now with this rise it is out of the question.

Does anyone know if me not working will affect the amount dp pays?

I know they took my wage into account when they calculated the amount as I had to send in some payslips.

I don't want to turn this into that sort of thread, just want some impartial advice.

TIA

I think we are on the old system.

I think it's terrible that they don't take into account outgoings such as over £600 a month childcare we pay.

Can anyone else help?

I think they take into account your income to see if you can cover the household expenses for you and your dp. It then frees up more of his income to go towards the maintenance, so I think you not working would have an impact.

Have you had the breakdown from them of how they worked it out? They've got dh's wrong in the past and missed all sorts of things out that should have been included.

I've just been on the calculator on the csa website - it's worked out a weekly figure of £59. Two - thirds less than what they've sent today.

But of course that doesn't include any of my details as it doesn't ask for them.

Why did the payments go up?

PanicPants · 26/03/2007 21:01

Not sure, the letter said because they didn't have all the information they needed, so after speaking to them tonight we are resending my wageslips - but not sure how thats going to change things.

Dp says we would be better off on the new system. Can you change onto it?

They might have done an interim assessment. I think if they don't have your details they assume a certain level of income.

Has anything else changed to make the payments increased? Your dh's salary?

I don't know if you can change to the new system. We're still on the old.

Dp thinks we can if we are having it reassessed.

15% I think is fair and just, have no idea how they ended up with such a figure (way over the 15%)

It's such a pain isn't it. I know he should pay for sdd, and a fair rate at that. But it really causes worry on the other side as well.

Oh well, thanks for your answers surfermum.
