If you start a new job then ask the bank/building society for a mortgage are they likely to approve it? or do they have a clause where you have to have been in a job for X amount of time?

iirc they look at income over a few months.

I got my mortgage before I started my first ever job (about 5 yrs ago) - I just had to prove that I had a job to go to and the bank checked what my salary would be with Human Resources and that I was on a proper contract etc. Was fairly simple but they did say it was partly because I was a teacher and that meant a fairly secure income and low chance of losing my job.

They also checked recent bank statements to make sure I was in control of spending etc
