Pension auto enrollment Opt Out

I am the director of a small company with 2 employees, myself and my partner (unmarried). My stahing date to auto enroll him in a workplace pension in tommorow. Neither of us want to take part in the workplace pension scheme (will be setting up a private pension). So I want to opt him out of it officially without paying my accountant fo rthe privelige

Is my plan below a feasible way to do this and is this the correct sequence of events that will happen?

  1. register the company at Nest - done
  2. Auto enroll him - won't let me do it until tommorow which is the company Staging Date
  3. Wait for him to get the welcome pack which Nest? will send him
  4. Fill out the opt out form that will hopefully be included in the pack and send it off to the address that will also hopefully be provided?

Yes, have to go through setting up then opt out. Not sure how opt out was done but I thought employer got the letter from the employee and then logged that via the NEST employer portal.

Thanks nick, at least in in the right track. I've enrolled him now so hopefully when he gets his welcome back they'll be an option out form I can send off to nest. What a ridiculous palaver!

Found my NEST welcome pack as an employee. On the letter it says about opting out and gives the member-hub login URL - says the process takes about two minutes online. It also gives details of phone and postal methods for opt-out.

thanks Nanny, that's reassuring. I've been putting this off for about 2 years because they made it seem so impenetrable but it's actually pretty straightforward, I just used one of the nest templates to write to DP (who couldn't give a monkeys) aka save to my laptop and then registered our company and him on nest. Certainly don't need to pay an accountant to do it - if you plan to opt out at least. Thanks for your help, appreciated, I can go on holiday with a clear conscience now :)
