Backdated working tax credits?

Just after some insight!
I put in my claim for working tax credits at the start of April and due to registering as self-employed at around the same time it's taken a while and I think I'll finally get some payment through in mid July. Will they backdate the months between the start of April and mid July? Moving house at around the same time so the extra cash would be much appreciated but I'm trying to budget and was just wondering if backdating was a thing in this circumstance. Can't seem to find much online!
Thanks :)

They do seam to make a bit of a lump payment towards the calculated arrears from submission receipt to first payment. In my experience they also hold a chunk of it back that they reffer to as a balance payment that they pay after your final submission for year end - probably around July next year.

Yes they pay from when you applied, they call it an arrears payment.
