Noise from neighbours? maserator toilet and fan

our next door neighbours to whom we are joined are in the process of fitting a maserator(sp) toilet and extractor fan in there under the stairs cupboard, this is next to our living room.

we have not really had noise problems with them because the joining wall between us is there hall and stairs but we can here then going up aNnd down.

we are now a little concerned about the noise of their downstairs loo coming into our living room.

can we do anything legally to stop or do they have a free rein on this?

You think you have got problems: our mad neighbours have fitted their kitchen against our boundary wall, moving it from the other side of the property (semi-D).

As I type, I can hear them chopping vegetables and pressing the buttons on the microwave.

Having spoken to the Council, they said there is nothing they can do, unless a formal noise complaint is made. Great.

At least a toilet will only have occasional use, perhaps you could ask that the installation is reviewed for noise whilst being installed, perhaps they could put it on rubber mounts.

thanks - didn't think we did have any way of stopping it, and we get on really well with them so probably won't even if there was but jsut wanted to know, like mayhbe there was some amzing law that said you can't put noisey things on ajoining walls! sounds very sensible to me!!!

But these neighbours a bit DIY mad, they built there own porch which had tiny foundation and i'm sure one day will end up in oru garden, they are also building their own kitchen and doing all the plumbing and electrics themselves!! now i know they aren't supposed to touch the electrics but they don;t seem to, we have dropped hints to them but i don't want to rock the boat there! hopefully the building regs guy might notice something when we comes to sign off on our extension.
