Weekly grocery bills- how much is normal?

Hello
We are a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids (age 6 and 2). I spend an average of £100-150£ per week on groceries (we eat a lot of meat and I try to buy organic). Usually this is all an ocado weekly delivery. I feel the cost is too much - what do other families with similar age kids spend ?

£40 a week for me, DH and 1 DC including toiletries and cleaning equipment

60-80 per week 2 adults 2 teens. Menu planning is key. Use a mixture of Aldi, local butchers/greengrocers and Booths.

Don't buy much alcohol. But don't skimp on anything else. But little or no waste.

Me, DH + two cats

£40 per week at Aldi, which includes low carb, wholefood diet for me (meat, veg, greek yoghurt, cheese etc). DH eats pretty much the same, but with some extra bran flakes/potato/brown rice. And the odd pack of Jive bars. Cats eat Aldi pouches, along with prescription/premium kibble (not included in tally). Minimal alcohol - when I'm not strict lowcarb, I'll get a 75cl bottle of wine or cider per week. Cleaning products I'm frugal with and just buy the basics. Toiletries I just use 25p toothpaste and bar soap. Get a refill of shampoo from the health food shop every few months.

Some top ups - occasionally pop into Morrisons for yellow sticker bargains, some meat from the butcher for bacon & a couple of evening meals per week, milk from Co-op. So maybe £10 per week there.

I spend between £150 to £180 per week, but although there are only 3 adults at home, dh & I are childminders and we feed up to 6 young children at lunch 5 days a week and between 3 to 6 young & older children at tea time which is a cooked meal. I meal plan for the evening meals/weekends and have a regular variation of lunches. Depending on the planned meals some weeks are cheaper than others.

We spend an average of £90 PW for 2 adults, 2 dcs (7&9). I used to buy organic everything but had to cut back.
I tend to do an egg meal once a week (omelette) plus a meal where I stretch meat (tonight we had one chicken breast between 4 with pasta and veg). I never throw food away, breast crusts make garlic bread etc.
Could go cheaper as there is probably too many treats in there... but if I don't stock up the crisps/kitkats then we'd probably just end up paying more for them when the urge struck.

One thing I don't spend much on is cleaning products...!

2 adults, DDs 4 and 2. £80ish a week and it's nearly all fruit, veg and cold produce (protein and dairy). Includes cat food, nappies and cleaning products and the odd bottle of wine.

But the kids eat at lunch and dinner at nursery, and DH doesn't do breakfast during the week or take a packed lunch

We spend £130 a week at tesco for 2 adults, 2 little ones and a cat.. including toiletries and house stuff. Formula is expensive (£10) and I eat a lot of chicken, that alone is £12. So £22 on 2 items! It just adds up.

We have adults, two boys (5&2) and 3 cats. I'm finding that I'm spending about £50 on a weekly shop (toiletries inc) plus say another £15 on top ups and then about £20 on a takeaway. I used to be able to do it all under £40 but I've become complacent recently. Now saving up to pay off credit cards so will be looking to bring that back down. Xx

Sorry 2 adults

JoJoSM2 · 13/06/2017 13:57

We mostly buy veggie ( occasional meat for DH). We also prefer organic, high quality food. The weekly bill tends to be around £150 despite DH eating barely any meals at home. Might sound like a lot but with this lovely food at home we barely eat out so save on that.

HoleySock · 14/06/2017 11:59

We used to spend around £75 per week for two adults and two children under three. Recently our bill has gone up to about £125 per week since have a new baby and two kids in nappies...
I need to get back to meal planning
