I had a divorce petition served on me last Sunday (DH and I still live together). What do I do now?
I feel like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

No idea, sorry. But wanted to give you a {hug} and show you some support.

Do you have a solicitor? I think that would be the best next step.

BraveOnTheOutside · 18/03/2007 13:01

I'm seeing a solicitor on 27th and they have told me to write to the Courts saying my response would be a few days late due to me needing to engage a solicitor etc.

But I have no privacy at home to look anything up, buy and refer to a book and no time to do so whilst at work and I haven't told anyone except my Mum either.

I've gone from being organised and efficient to just sitting on potentially one of the most important documents of my life.

  • thanks for the hug. I really need it

It sounds as though you are doing everything you can at the moment. I'm not able to offer you any advice though as I'm overseas and things are different here.

Is there someone you can tell this to so you have a bit of moral support? I know it's a really hard time - things certainly were slightly better for me when I had someone to talk to.

Please don't rush into anything - make sure you have all the advice you need before committing to anything.

I hope you are ok - keep posting on here if you need some support.

{hugs} again.

Poor you! IfDH has solicitors their address will be on the back - sounds like he might not have as they should have written to you first to warn you it was coming .

Drop a line to the court to tell them you'll be a bit late in responding and get some legal advice when you can. You'll be fine
