rental fees

My DP has been accepted for a rental property. He is due to move in tomorrow. The letting agents have sent him an invoice for £675 for 'fees'.
We completely understand there are fees involved but this seems enormously high ! On top of this the owner (who is letting us in tomorrow) wants an additional £69 check in fee paid directly to him.
We are in the SE but not London - its a 2 bed EOT terrace property.

Does this seem high ? Thanks

Not really.....What's the break down of the fees?

Double check re the check in fee, if your husband is being asked to pay that then the LA should pay for the check out. (Unless both are split 50/50, £69 seems cheap for a decent photographic inventory)

The LL usually pays for the check-in report and the T for the check-out but the tenancy agreement should set this out - your DP shouldn't have to pay for both ends. When I've let out my flat in the past I've had to pay the tenancy agreement fee as a landlord. I'd have expected your DP to have had to pay any other fees (eg reference checks) direct to the agents but before this stage. Presumably they can let him have the breakdown of them though?
