Need some advice

My friend is in a fairly drastic financial way to the point where she has had to negotiate with mortgage lender to stop possible reposseion. Her xh was meant to help with mortgage repayment as in terms of divorce he has to provide a roof over the dc head. He is not doing so and refusing to pay standing order hence the financial difficulties, although he does have the money ( I've known him since I was born). Although not happy she is resigned to that fact. Myself and another friend have siad that we will lend her the money for a deposit to buy a cheaper house where the mortgage repayments will be more managable, which she is grateful for but will only use in an emergency.

Sorry long story but when she came over las night shesaid that on £30k slary she tales home £18k which sounds a bit dodgy in amount of tax/NI that she is paying. Alos she is not claiming any working tax/cjild tax credit etc.

So two questions

1 - Is that the right take home pay on £30k salary.

2 - Is she entitled to any benefits. Her DD's are 15 and 13.

Thank you in advance

Child Tax Credit.

Maybe working tax credit too?

heres a NI/tax calculator

and she should claim tax credits, she would get at least £545 a year, if not more.

Thanks for that. She was a bit shocked about how much she was being over taxed £4k so have sent her off to see a good accountant
