dm was caught doing 50 in a 70. and mot ran out on 21st. he has to produce docs but wasn't given anything other than the slip to produce docs. does this mean he will get pen points and fine or not.

50 in a 70?

misdee · 27/02/2007 22:58

do you mean 70 in a 50.

SherlockLGJ · 27/02/2007 22:59

About 12 years ago, I got caught doing 95 mph on the M62.

5 points. £60 quid. A hard lesson learnt.

Freckle · 27/02/2007 23:00

He'll probably get a fine and points for speeding and then some penalty for driving with no MOT.

misdee · 27/02/2007 23:01

mind you today i think i may have got flashed charging back from harefield, i hope not though

Ellieump · 27/02/2007 23:02

mumofelise · 27/02/2007 23:02

mots are all computerised now and they will know it wasn't mot-ed at the time. sorry

mumofelise · 27/02/2007 23:06

The only time you are allowed to drive without an MOT is if you are on the way to a pre-booked test, or on the way to get it fixed so it will pass the test.
They will know when he produces documents that he did not have an MOT, and at that point I think it is up to the officer who stopped him as to whether it is taken further and the MOT thing is also prosecuted.

mumofelise · 27/02/2007 23:15

this could be his job for a first offence.

stay positive, they may well look at it as not worth the paperwork as the vehicle is proven roadworthy. and they're not all computerised now, depends on the garage and whether or not they have the new system.

tenbygirl · 28/02/2007 14:10

Aren't you allowed 14 days grace to get an MOT?
