The reason I rarely use public transport is that once you've paid out for insurance/tax etc. The petrol and parking costs are often less then public transport. For example to get into my local town by bus a return bus ticket is £4, so if me and my partner are going in for an hour or two it's £8 whereas parking for two hours is £2.50/3 so it makes more sense to drive.

Is it worth checking out if you have access to a nearby car club?

Carolhh · 10/02/2017 19:11

thank you how do I check that? i was wondering about car pool but not sure how to go about it? it saves petrol and reduces pollution afterall!

i mean if someone drives the same way I go to work was wondering to join that person.....not sure where I can search though!!

Co Wheels is one car club I think, and also things like Lift Share, but you'll need to see what's local to you...either by Googling, or possibly checking with your local council or CAB etc.

I'd advise getting some quotes for insurance before committing to a purchase. First year prices can be astronomical depending on your age even with a low value car. You could find its as much as your cars value.
