Which is best to improve my credit score?

To cut a long story short, I used to be shit with money and now I'm not. I've spent the past few years majorly reducing my debt and improving my credit score in the process. Things are looking pretty good now & dh and I are hoping to apply for a mortgage soon.

I have an old littlewoods account which is completely paid off but has an available balance of £6k. Dh thinks having such a large amount of money available will make any mortgage lenders nervous in case I spend it so might damage our chances. Whereas in my opinion, with that amount of credit available, I'm utilising a v small amount of my overall available credit which I think is a positive thing.

Does anyone have any ideas who is right or would it depend on the lender?

If you are not using it, ask them to reduce the balance. Your DH is correct.
