Legal: Childcare Act 2006 - does it still include the 2 hour rule?

Question for you legal people.

I am trying to get my head around the Childcare Act 2006

I am stuck with working out if the ruling about providing childcare for 2 hours or more still exists. This did exist in Children Act 1989 Part 10A. As with most legislation, the ACT refers to previous acts. Part 2 of the Childcare Act 2006 refers to the Children Act 1989, but Part 2 only applies in Wales (have I got that right?).

Thus for Part 3 - which deals with registration of childcare providers. Does the 2 hour rule still exist for those in England? I can't find it, so expect it has been removed, so that ALL childcare regardless of for how long it is provided in any one day, is comes under the Act.

Many thanks.

From what I can see there will be further statutory instruments which will set out the precise exemptions, but as currently drafted that exemption will not exist in future. However from the explanatory notes to the Act here I think that you would be safe to assume that this exemption will continue.

That was really interesting reading. I always wondered why we didn't have to be registered for our summer school and now I know why, in fact our organisation is named as an example!
