Ex used my address for credit

Is there anything I can do to stop this ? A letter came from ee advising of a new contract in his name. I called them straight away and they said they couldn't discuss this with me but will look into it . I claim tax credits and worried how this will affect things . He said he took out a contract for our dd. I am absolutely furious with him and do not trust him to change it.

Is there anything else I can do ? He has never lived here so surprised he's been given one.

I think he said that he'd taken out a contract for the OP's DD.

I agree, blurred. These things can be unnerving when they happen to you. You should have the whip hand in the matter, though.

blurredlines · 18/10/2016 15:37

He doesn't see the problem as its for dd! It's so frustrating. Hopefully they will cancel it and i can keep proof if any checks happen.

How old is DD ?

blurredlines · 18/10/2016 15:43

She's 11. Keeps running of of data so he thought to get her another sim deal.

It's possible he made an innocent mistake filling in the documentation, I suppose. (I haven't seen an EE application form.) I imagine that, if so, it will be the last time he makes that mistake.

You've behaved correctly in the matter. (And are keeping an eye on your credit file in any case.) That's the main thing. Smile

Thank you cozie. I will do X

I think you are being very charitable there as the OP said that -
"He's never lived here"

cozietoesie · 18/10/2016 17:12

Well I've never seen an EE application form. And if it was done over the phone with an eager new salesperson? ............Wink

JoJoSM2 · 18/10/2016 23:14

How do you even know what's in these letters?! You shouldn't be opening them... Just write: not at this address, return to sender and post back.

blurredlines · 19/10/2016 09:11

If I letter comes to my house for a person I know definitely doesn't live here then it's getting opened

Me too.

OurBlanche · 19/10/2016 11:43

And here too, as it is NOT illegal to open it, just to deprive the legitimate intended, slow down its transmission etc.

I open it all as the previous owner ran a business from here as do I, and he still has some accounts lodged here (2+ years on). So I open the letters, check that they are just 'Exciting New Offers' then pop them back in the post marked "Not at this address since 2014 please remove form your database".

The one that I opened that was confirming a new credit account, his name, my address, I phoned, emailed and confirmed by registered post! I have no idea how/if he explained that one away!

blurredlines · 20/11/2016 09:52

Just to update. I received a letter from ee apologising and saying the account has now been closed and removed from any credit report. Yesterday I received two letters for my ex from debt recovery agency from two other mobile phone contracts he had ! I am absolutely fuming . I called the agency and explained he had never lived here and called ee again to check my address has definitely been removed. They said they will pass it on to their fraud team again. I can see this causing no end of problems for me.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/11/2016 14:12

I would email the CEO of EE. I would also report it to the police. What he's doing is fraud, multiple frauds.

Then I'd give the debt collection agencies his address & his work address.

blurredlines · 20/11/2016 14:56

How do I find out who the ceo is ?

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 20/11/2016 15:14

Google "CEO of ee email address"

It'll be readily available.

blurredlines · 21/11/2016 10:19

Fluffy - I've already had a response from from Mark aller ( ee ceo) this morning . Thanks for the advice

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/11/2016 12:37

I'm not surprised. Frauds serious.

I found out dhs ex had committed fraud years ago & it wasn't an isolated incident.

bloodyteenagers · 21/11/2016 13:06

Send the letters back to the debt collectors with a letter MX has never lived at this property. His address is..... His current phone number is..... His email is.....

blurredlines · 21/11/2016 14:05

I'm trying to be as civil as I can with him for the kids and maintenance ( he's self employed so not easy to go through the csa). He doesn't understand the problem as he tried to get a contract for dd. I'm more worried about tax credits flagging him up as living here now there's a trace at my address.

OP posts:
bloodyteenagers · 21/11/2016 14:23

Thats one of the reasons why you need to start re-directing everything back to him.
I was accused of living with someone and TC stopped. It was hell. The person was me (married name vs maiden name). I have two bills in the name that was flagged. That's all it took to stop over 12 weeks of TC.
i was able to show evidence that I was that person.
If he cared about being civil he wouldn't be committing fraud.

blurredlines · 21/11/2016 14:31

God that sound awful. I still have bills in my maiden name that have never been flagged up . I did have a check the year we split ( 2014) because the joint account was still active then I had a childcare check this year. God knows where they get their info from

BloodyTeenagers. 😱 That's a terrible story. It's almost funny it's so ridiculous. I hope they apologised.

bloodyteenagers · 23/11/2016 20:16

No apology.
Even the people at the other end of the line were in hysterics.
It happens a lot. There's 9 or 10 threads that are full all about the nightmare of hmrc. All very similar, out of the blue someone is flagged as living at the same address because of a few innocent letters. A declared relative who has moved in for a bit. A child turning to an adult. Could go on.. Hence the op needs to deal with the ex now, because trying to remain civil with him doesn't pay the bills.
