Advice - I would like to set up my own baby music group

I want to know how I get around joining a franchise as I would like to set up my own baby/toddler group at home but also have it more as a social group for parents as well.

Would n't want it to be a big group and would really only want to ask for donations for the tea coffee afterwards, or they can bring their own biscuits etc.

Am I able to start one up, I would advertise in the area that it would be a music group for young children and a time for mums to chat as well. I am finding that there isn't really anything in my area that gives you the opportunity to talk to mums after groups and that want to charge high prices for groups as they are franchises and are in it for the cash. Help

Buying a franchise for 1 of the nationwide groups can be expensive because you're basically buying the territory, training and things such as the right to use the logo and class content plans. I bought a franchise for an activity group which was part of a national chain. Although it was great working with the mums and kids I found it quite stressful constantly worrying about how many would sign up for next term and whether I would have enough money to cover hall costs etc. Also if you buy a franchise you will probably have to pay a % of what you make each month.
It sounds to me like you have a good idea of what you want to do and there is a gap for it. Where I live there was huge competition with groups springing up all over the place. I really wish I had just gone on my own and I think the pressure would have been easier to deal with.
If you set up in your home you would probably need some form of public liability insurance. Morton Michel are specialists in that kind of thing. Hope that helps. Good luck!
