how they work. Dp and i are just wondering as dps ex and her new partner are claiming benefits and neither of them work. They have 2 children DSD and a child under one, dp pays maintinence through the csa for dsd. Ex partners new man has a problem with his sight so therefore cant work. Anyone know what benefits they would be entitled to and how much it would amount to?

Not sure why you want to know.

If the partner has a sight problem, he may be in receipt of Incapacity Benefit, plus possibly income support. Housing benefit, council tax benefit and child tax credit are all likely. Any maintenance received would be taken into account, although as your dp pays through the csa this will be done automatically.

www.dwp.gov.uk is the website you need to find out.
Theres little point in annoying yourself in how much CSA dp is paying VS how much money you have. I know, been there done it.
Not a penny spare and dps X going on 3 foriegn holidays a year

dp would ideally like to pay ex direct and not via csa, but the way we understand it is that at the moment the money he pays goes into the pot to cover the benefits ex recieves iykwim?! But the concern is that if she was to come off the income support and get money from dp direct and possibly be better off would she still get housing paid for because of the partners disability?

If it was declared them I think it would be taken into consideration as income for the housing benefit.

Housing benefit and council tax benefit are means-tested - which means it is the level of the household income which dictates how much they might receive. So if the amount of maintenance your dp pays her exceeds the amount of income support she receives, her housing benefit and council tax benefit might well be reduced.
