I've just had our bill in and we are on a meter. I'm interested to find out if we are excessive with water by comparing bills if possible.
We are a family of 2 adults, one school age child and one toddler and one cat.
Our bill for july 06 to jan 07 is £390.

TIA

We are 2 adults, one toddler and 1 cat. 2 bed house, no dishwasher, no garden.

We pay monthly dd at £26 a month. Got my statement recently and we are in credit by about £13.

On a meter btw!

I've never been on a meter
when we only had 1 child and lived in a 2 bed flat, no garden, it cost us £60 half yearly
now in a 3 bed semi, garden and 2 children it's approx £170 half yearly

We have a meter, we pay £21.00 per month

we are me, dh, dd and bump

That sounds a lot mckenzie.
We don't have a meter, and our half yearly bill is about £120. We are in a 3 bed flat in central London.

My mum was told that if you have more bedrooms than people living in the house, you are better off with a meter (like them, 2 in a 4 bed house).
If you have more people than bedrooms (say 5 of you in a 3 bedder) then you are better off with bills.

Don't know if you have any choice in the matter.

Hi there - we are on a meter and pay £25/month which just about covers it. That's DP, DS and me for now (another LO on the way).

Check that there are no leaks - ie take a reading and then check again when you are sure no water has been used...

We dont have any choice apparently posey. The owners before us chose to have a meter fitted and you cant then opt to have it taken away and revert to rates.
They were 2 people living in a four bedroomed house so based on your mum's guide it made sense for them but we are now 4 people living in a five bedroomed house.

Like you Essbee, I'm careful with water but my DH isn't. His showers last for about 8 minutes (yes, i've timed him).
