We have a flat that we rent out and as part of the tenancy agreement the tenants pay the energy bills. It would appear (through a final demand from a debt collector and Ccj) that they have not been paying the bill and it is in our names.
Wondering if we can resolve this easily and why they have not been cut off already!

Why didn't you contact the company with the final reading?

We have, it is all leased out through and estate agent and they have provided us with all the reading that were applicable at the end of the previous tenancy and start of the current one

If you sent the final readings to the power company then get in touch with your tenants details.

Why is the bill in your name if they are liable to pay for it?

Call the energy company to sort this out. They will probably ask you to send them a copy of the tenancy agreement then it should prove that you weren't resident during the period in question, therefore not responsible for the bills.
