Garden boundaries

Is this right?
If you are facing your garden with your house behind you, the fencing on the left hand side of your property is your responsibility and the right hand side is your neighbours.
Need to replace several garden panels but need clarification on this. Thanks

99 times out of 100, yes (our last house was an exception to this). If you check your title deeds it should be marked on there (assuming the house is yours not rented).

I have been told (just yesterday) by the legal department of the housing association that its the other way round.
Stand facing your garden and the fence to the RIGHT is your boundary and the left is theirs.

It was this way round at a previous house as well

ok in my house, yes, with my house behingd me the fences the left are mine, and to the right are my neighbours

at my fathers house every fence surrounding the whole garden (and he has to side garnes and a back alley joining them sort of thing) is the responsibility of my dads house!
