Mortgage term now come to its natural end.
It seems unfair to charge a fee.
Money for old rope.
I could understand if the mortgage was being
repaid early but not the case

Is it the deeds release fee?

I can see that it is annoying, especially as the bank will have made plenty of money out of you by charging you interest on the mortgage over the years. But unfortunately it is just one of those things, and is almost certainly mentioned in the paperwork for the mortgage when you took it out in the first place.

Mind you, if you refuse to pay it, then they will refuse to hand over your deeds, which means that they would be storing them for free, and they won't want that either...

Yes, I agree it seems wrong for there to be a termination fee but it was no doubt in the initial mortgage conditions.

It is a great feeling when you are mortgage free though Smile

It is awful but I know ours will be about that.as if they haven't made enough out of you.
