Don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but I had a nasty shock the other day when I went to withdraw cash from the account I share with my dh, and the ATM told me there were no funds available... went straight to my bank and found that the whole account had been cleaned out. Foolishly I hadn't opened my last bank statement; if I had, I'd have seen more than one totally unfamiliar transaction eating into our funds. Frequently said bank statements tend to go straight into the bin unshredded, which is probably how they got our details... fortunately we're able to recover the amount lost, but it's been such a dreadful shock This website from our insurance company that we were emailed actually has some pretty good advice re. preventing this sort of thing happening, so take heed folks!

Sorry to hear you had this problem. I had someone using my credit card to buy goods last year. I wasn't impressed by my bank's response - it was quite a hassle to get the money back, and they weren't at all sympathetic. I'm much more careful about what I buy online now and what I use my card for!
