Child tax credit

Have just been on entitledto.com

At present DH is out of work and is on Incapacity Benefit.

I put in our estimated income for 2005/2006 and also 2006/2007.

It says we are entitled to child tax credit, i didnt think you could get WFTC if you were on IB.

Does anyone know if this is right or could i have put in something wrong?

If its right then whooppeeee!!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't know, but I do know they changed the rules on this a while back (CTC generally)

CAB can run a benefits check of you don't get better answers here, always a good thing to have done.

Yes you can - in fact you get a premium for either dla or incapacity - can't remember which one.

Keep copies of everything you send and receive from them, they have a habit of saying they overpaid you and take it back even when you send all the correct details.

I have never found tax credits to be inaccurate - unlike housing benefit

Child tax credit is different to working tax credit (the 2 replaced WFTC a couple of years ago)

Depends really on your circumstances but as long as you are not getting any payments from the DWP for your children (through income support or JSA) then if you have children under the age of 16 you should get some CTC (and WTC if you work at least 16 hours and have an estimated household income of less than about £15,000). If your husband is out of work you won't get an extra disabled premimum, you'd only get this if he was working or claiming higer rate care of dla.
They will be open tomorrow so maybe worth a phone call to see and get the forms.

CTC and WFTC are 2 different things though.

You would defo be entitled to CTC though.

you will be entitled to child tax credit but not working tax credit. If someone in the family recieves DLA then you get a wtc credit but if your income is over £15g then you dont actually get anything in terms of WTC. Everybody who works or doesnt is entitled to some sort of child tax credit if income is under £50g i think.
