Does anyone know whether i will be able to see him before he is taken away? If not how soon after he is taken away will i be able to visit him - is it likely to be before christmas?

Oh puddytats. I really hope for you all that he doesn't. When I was 18 my boyfriend at the time got a long sentance and was away for almost 4 years. I went to visit him the whole time like a mug so I can give you lots of advice on what to expect if it comes to that... I won't write it all now because fingers crossed you won't need it, but just give me a shout anytime x

DeepPannCrispandEven · 14/12/2006 19:45

puddy - re time after sentence. It depends on the individual court cells - some allow it, some don't. Ask his barrister tomorrow beforehand.

From what I recall of his case from weeks ago, is he not eligible for a suspended sentence?? The prisons are pretty full and he doesn't present an immediate risk to the public. And didn't he ask for a pre-sentence report to be done?

pedilia · 14/12/2006 19:55

Good luck for tommorrow PT, keeping everything crossed for you all.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 14/12/2006 19:55

oh goodness how awful

thinking of you tomorrow xx

HeavenisInherwinterunderwear · 15/12/2006 08:03

Thinking of you today. Good luck. Will he get part of his sentence suspended ?

Judy1234 · 15/12/2006 08:30

Best of luck. It must be horrible and also must be some nagging thoughts on whether he did it or not.

I think what curlysmum says is right. You need to do a lot of research into things, what he can bring in, what you can send in, how he can best protect himself in there, best psychological tactics and way to manage things with children, PR re neighbours, local papers. Presumably it's wise to have him sign a general power of attorney so you can manage all his affairs, accounts, money etc whilst he is in too. Would do no harm to make sure you have wills written too if you're going to a lawyer to get the power of attorney done. May be offering to pay some of the money back by some means might help too as presumably someone is a victim here. And all the stuff on the other thread about protecting you and your family against civil claims for recovering the money back etc.

puddycats can I CAT you/or you CAT me as my dh may go to prison on Monday It's tax evasion, don't know what yours is? All to do with mix up at old firm and very very complicated. We've had this for 5 years now, starting with a police raid at 7am one morning. Been a f£$$^^* nightmare.

Hugs hun, I know how you're feeling. You'll have to wait to see him I'm afraid xxxxxx

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 15/12/2006 15:08

Oh, shit

Judy1234 · 15/12/2006 17:40

Why is it men? Why is 94% of the prison population male? If we could work this out we might be able to improve things in general.

Best of luck to you both. It must be a horrible time.
