Are the bailiffs coming?

Since we moved in a year ago we have learned that a previous tenant had a few debts.
We only discovered this through the numerous letters and phonecalls we have received from numerous financial companies. Recently things seem to have stepped up a gear.
Now it's getting really annoying.
Does anyone know what the likely outcome is going to be?
Are the bailiffs going to come in and nick our tele?

Can you not phone them & let them know these people are not there anymore?

return all the letters saying 'no longer at this address' . if anyone calls , take a name of who you spoke to and make a note of it and when they called.....tell them the people they want are no longer at the address.......

They can't. They need to have a warrant to come in unless you let them.

I think I'd contact the collections agency.

I responded to all the letters we got via Recorded Delivery, stating who I was and that the property was a rental, and the contact details of the landlord.

I then stated that I did not wish to be contacted any further regarding this recipient, but that I'd keep a record of all subsequent contact.

I'd never hear back from them.

Thanks expat.
Scooby - I think there are a number of agencies involved now. I opened the letters from a couple (I know I shouldn't ) and phoned them to say the woman was no longer here and I didn't know where she was either.
I have have just returned a call left on our answer machine and said told them she wasn't here.
As far as I know she was evicted early last year.

I have contacted our landlord, but I doubt they can do anything.

You are doing the right thing, i would do what expat has said, but don't worry because they can not take your things, if they knock at the door just open it & explain, they may ask to see your ID just to prove you are not the lady they are after.

I had baliffs turn up at my door for a previous owner. Scared the life out of me but I just explained they had not lived here for some months and they were fine.
Do get fed up though putting letters back in the post box though especially ones for the same company.
