house and contents insurance

we are currently insured with Prudential but I have been trying to get some quotes to see if I can get the cost down (as per advice from the financial guru Martin).

Because apparently we live in an area of subsidence and flooding, none of the on line quotes work and some insurers (Direct line for example) wont even quote me.

Does anyone know of any decent insurers that are good value but cover these problem areas that I should try. There are so many out there I dont really know where to start

TIA

Lloyds cover flooding (but I don't know about sunsidence), or certainly did until a year ago when we moved from a flood risk location. If you try them my top tip is to go online - I start losing the will to live whenever I've had to phone their call centre.

ooops, that should be subsidence...

We went with LV too. In an area similar to yours, and when we bought the house Abbey would give us a mortgage as long as we found someone else to insure the building! So we went with the company that the previous owners were with. Have only just added contents though, 2yrs after moving in

We're with Cornhill Direct , since I work from home and they provide good extra cover option for home workers. 4 years no-claims got us a 20% discount too
