My DH has experienced a big problem with a company in the states - can't go into details on here, but we've lost out financially. We need to find a UK lawyer (we live between Leeds and Harrogate) who knows US law.

Any advice gratefully received. TIA lmb

If you already use a UK lawyer they should be able to recommend an associate in the US

I would look at the law society register to see which solicitors are local to you with a specialism in international law, but you will find that they have some sort of arrangement with a US law firm (or even firms).

A quick look indicates that Cobbetts has such an arrangement, so could be a starting place for quotes etc.

It all depends on which state the company you're having problems with is in. If they're in New York or California it shouldn't be too hard to find a lawyer in this country who can help. Some of the bigger firms in Leeds should be able to help, or might refer you to their London offices. I can suggest some names if necessary.

If it is based in any other state then your best option is to hire a lawyer from there to help you.

Thanks for your help, had a look at the Cobbetts site, should probably speak to our own local solicitor. The company is in Orlando.
