Sell up everything to start a new business with your husband if you knew it would be succesful but would mean living in rented house etc for 3 years until it was up and running.

Absolutely.

I fail to see what the big deal is about renting.

Must be a British thing, but man, imagine sacrificing your whole career happiness and sense of fulfillment b/c of a place that the bank owns anyway?

I'd be off like a shot.

expat exactly what I think just need to convince dh now

Not to mention, giving up a promising financial future all for something a bank owns?

Daft.

partybabestitch · 29/11/2006 09:09

if i loved and trusted my dh. then yes.

when i got married, i left a well paid job, moved coutnry to live with a manwho at the time didnt have a job. it wsssnt even something i thought about for half a second.

life is about relationships. not material possessions..

something i find very dangerous, is moving in with a man, and having kids with him without a marriage certificte. that i wouldd never do. far far to risky. what you mentioned is a walk in the park compared to tht.

Yes
It may well come to that if we decide to move back to NZ.

I agree that there is a big stigma attached to renting.

However I can see RIIA's dilema, what if they become in a posistion never to buy back a house? What if the business all goes wrong, or god forbid but something happens to one of them meaning they can't work. But, these are risks we take every day, I guess they have everything done, the bank must be on their side with the business plan and loan?

It's something DH and I have always wanted to do, so I'd go for it! BTW We rent and it's nice to know our rent hasn't gone up in the last two years we've been at this house, whereas if we've had a mortgage it may have gone up (which we couldn't afford to do)

Flamesparrow · 29/11/2006 09:21

I've given up all hope of being able to buy anywhere in the anywhere near forseeable future.

Rentin's not all that bad - some little man comes and pays for new boilers when they break

riskinitall · 29/11/2006 09:21

I am itching to do this and don't really have any doubts.Dh would like to wait but I think we need to do it now.
