where should i get a pension from

i paid into a council run one for years but new new employer doesn't offer one. where would i find good advice/recommendations? my financial advisor wants a cut to find one so i don't really want to go through him.. can't afford massive amount each month

I thought all employers had to provide a pension these days?

Look on line for pension provider's.
You can always pay into an isa etc and make it long term with lock in rates etc. You may in future find somewhere you can put in lump sums from it.

I would put it in the bank and then add it to my works pension when it's set up. You'll get the tax back and not incur any fees, nor have the hassle of consolidation at some point down the road.

If you can't afford much you'll just be creating a problem.

there are no long term ISAs with 'lock in' rates; cash gets destroyed by inflation. Stocks and shares ISAs may work with the usual risks.
