I've just rung citibank as I wanted to close an account that i've not used for a couple of years and that had next to nothing in it. I was put throught to an advisor who said I was a valued customer (yawn) who asked me why I wanted to close it. I told them there was nothing wrong, just hadn't used it so to make things easier and cut down on paper, I wanted to close it. She said they would credit me with £50 today if I kept it open . Of course I said yes and checked whether it was still free banking and she said yes. They've also opened me another account which gets 4.91 gross p.a with £1 balance. Pretty good I think.

So, if anyone has a citibank acct, try closing it

I know I will now end up with even more paperwork but hey, I can close it in a few months.

It must be my lucky day. I've just had an engineer here to fix my oven which is only 3 years old. He said it was going to be about £100 . When he'd finished, he checked his pc and found out that the part came under warranty and the expiry was 38 months after installation, hmm, about 5 days time. Yippee, it was free. Stood there wondering whether I should tip him but didn't know if he'd be offended. But he had a nice coffee

Blimey, girl, you ought to go and buy a lottery ticket before the shops shut!!

perhaps I should.

I was going to post at the weekend to say I got 4 numbers on the lotto but sadly it was 2 numbers on 2 lines .
