we are thinking of moving as the road we are on is so busy and not good for the kids, but we only moved here 10mths ago! the mortgage company we are with arent open today so cant speak to them til monday (bad sign!)
anyway we dont want to borrow any more, just move the mortgage over to a new home.. do you think its possible?its a 2yr fixed rate..
Also the house we're interested in will sell v v soon, but its priced £259k, do you think anyone would accept £245 as an offer (i know its v low!)
thanks

We (fingers crossed) will be moving our current mortgage to a new house very soon.

And borrowing some more , but on a separate 'product'.

fixed rates are generally portable to a new property. If you need to borrow less, you will have to pay repayment penalties on the amount you redeem. If you need to borrow more than you currently have on the fixed rate, you will need to chose another deal for this extra borrowing. hth

According to dh (who has worked in the business) usually the debt is portable as you aren't changing the loan amount, just the security. As to the price they are probably looking for near 250k (the Stamp Duty threshold) by pricing it just above but you have to start negotiating somewhere.

Well i rang the mortgage company today, they said i would have to pay a redemption fee of around £5k then take out another mortgage then i get fees returned. oh yeah, they will only loan us half of what they loaned us last time. so cant move now. great.
