i love the old coach built prams.
they are stunning but horrendously expensive and not very practicle for modern living as they take up so much room.

my mum has one in her loft that was my brothers when he was a baby, i used it a couple of times for my Ds as it is still in immaculate condition.

worcestercaroline · 04/11/2006 22:20

but would u buy one off e bay

I bought one and used it as a downstair bed until she was 2 years it's fantastic, never been out the house though.

BATtymumma · 05/11/2006 09:34

i personally wouldn't because i couldn't. my son has ASD so we can't go on nice long walks, we have to take the car everywhere. but i think there would definatly be a market for them.

and i am certain that there are people who would be collectors or dealers that would love one

My dad bought us a brand new black and silver silver silvercross coachbuilt pram 14 years ago.Have had more enjoyment than you can believe from it.We call it the LIMO ! Has done all three from birth to 2 yeas as pram, bed ,play area, feeding time ect.Looks stunning in the summer with the big white canopy and white bedding.Everyone opens doors ect to help and get so many lovely comments when out and about. Can fit lots of shopping all around and loads of room for babe to sit up and play with toys.It is my total must have.Mind you am local community midwife-need i say more [wink ]

I saw one yesterday. Looked lovely. The baby was sitting up and looking out. Looked wonderful.

A man has bought the Silvercross mark and going to market it much more widely so we may see more of them around.

upandaway · 05/11/2006 18:26

fantastic I live near the factory and have visited.. Wonderful things like Mary Poppins.
Bought an old one off ebay and use it a lot but do have to remember to harness them in or they are lolloping out as you bounce them along!

What make/model is it and how old? Make sure you dont overpay worcestercaroline.

eenybeeny · 05/11/2006 18:29

why is this in legal/money matters? just curious!

worcestercaroline · 05/11/2006 20:03

am not quite sure I had put it under other matters or something like that and was a bit surprised myself when I saw the money and legal matters. Maybe I pressed mouse too quick.

I would not get one as a sole use pram but I have one up in my loft I am due march and it will be great for popping baby in downstairs and in the garden in Springtime weather permitting.
they are grand for bouncing round the village in, but useless through town or shops.

eenybeeny · 05/11/2006 20:05

hehe hope you catch the ghost!

RTKangaMummy · 05/11/2006 20:08

They are deffo brill

We have got a full sized coach one that was 1st used for my eldest nephew who has just gone to UNI

It is great for pushing around the park

great for baby to sleep in garden - we have got a sunshade that is donkeys years old - it is a metal frame with material

IMHO Get one and you won't regret it

Also you can get a toddler seat for it - which are deffo brill too

and huge shopping basket for bottom

GET ONE

worcestercaroline · 05/11/2006 20:12

Its a kensington racing green. I have already bought it and had alot of use out of it. I did buy it off ebay for £250 it was in perfect condition as good as new. I was just curious to others opinions as I have had a mixed response, older people think its great as do teenagers. People with toddlers give me funny looks and have made comments about I am 'trying to imply I am wealthy', 'do I need a silver cross to try and be superior to other mothers'.... and when I say I got it off e bay i have to put a morning aside to explain to OAPs what e bay is, and middle age people say 'well its propably not even a real silver cross if u got it off there'
I personally think its great as my baby did not like modern pram. She loves silver cross and smiles and flirts with all that pass us by.

They are brilliant ! My mum bought us the ' Balmoral ' for DS1, over 5 years ago. It's been in constant use for him and 4 younger sibs, often upto 3 at a time in it ! Plus loads of shopping/school clobber loaded around our now 6 month twins...we do have other forms of baby transport,( you can't fold it up in any way...it literally dismantles when you eventully put it away ! ), but they are often not used for days/weeks at a time....hey often come up 2nd hand on e-bay..
