EDF Energy Bills... HELP!

Hi there,

We moved out of the property that these bills constantly refer to back in February 2013. We are STILL getting various confusing letters from EDF. The one previous to the latest one said they owed us £68 and now we have had yet another one saying we now owe them £129 (it would be £197 but because we are £68 in credit then that comes off the total "final" bill). We have had countless "final bills" from EDF and this is just getting ridiculous. How can they continue to demand money from us? My DH had already paid a fu**ing huge bill where they had "mis-calculated" our entire time at the property so we owed them about £700! This was paid off in installments and we thought we were done.
Then we had more arguments about final meter readings (unfortunately we were still responsible for the meter readings as we moved out before our tenancy legally finished - I had to argue that they were massively over-estimating as the property was empty from Feb-April 2013) which was last year... And now ANOTHER letter demanding £129!!
I feel like we are being bullied by this company... What the hell do I do? Do we just roll over and pay it? I feel like we're at our wits end with this.
Is there someone we can contact (not EDF as we'll just get their call centre).

Thank you xx

I would probably write a letter reiterating the final meter reading and the date you moved out. I would expect the customer should then have been the landlord. Your tenancy agreement shouldn't have anything to do with your contract with EDF. Request a final calculation and if at that point you think it is wrong request details of their complaint procedure and follow it. If your formal complaint isn't resolved, at that point you can contact the energy ombudsman Ofgem for advice and they may be able to investigate on your behalf. Make sure you send correspondence recorded delivery and keep copies of letters sent and received.
