Hi,
We have a old stone party wall, running between our house and neighbour's, which is owned by the neighbour. The wall is over a hundred years old and has come into disrepair. It requires repointing on our side as there are quite a few lose stones. The wall is over 10ft high on our side and with two small children, we feel it has become a priority. We were prepaired to do it at our own cost, but they gave us some trouble when we built an extention close to it regarding the Party Wall act. We pointed the wall by the extention before the extention was built, it's further down the garden where the wall needs attention. I would imagine they would be responsible for the cost, but I was wondering what is the best way to serve notice. Would we need to get a survey first? Would we need to get quotes? Should we serve notice in writing? What if they refused?
regards
Chip
