Foreign students for summer months

I am not sure if this is the correct thread. We have been approached by a friend, who runs school, to see if we could take 2 students from Austria while they are here studying English. we would get £200 a week for the students and would need to provide breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. Space wise, we could do it, but wondering if anyone has done this and do you make any money from it? or is it just an interesting experience? The cost of additional food for 16-19 years must be considerable and then there is the extra work. Anyone out there done and any advice?

Is that £200 per person?

No it is £200 per week for 2 students. There has to be 2 students.

Where do you live? That seems low to me but we live in London.

I doubt by the time you hve fed them, done laundry etc you would make much money

My parents used to take in French students when me and my brother were younger. I dont know if it was worth the money but they did it for a few years and it really helped us with learning French for school

I host foreign students regularly and get paid just under £200 for 2 students (but we have the options of 1 or 3 as well). It's just my DH and I (no DCs yet) so it's fairly easy to manage. Mostly they're out of the house around 08.30 for their lessons and only back around 18.30 after their activities (depending on age - older teenagers want to stay out for dinner with their friends a lot).
Profit-wise, it depends where and how you shop. We mostly use budget supermarkets and pick up bits and pieces at Sainsbury's, M&S etc, depending on what we're cooking. You do need to keep an eye on the food bill but remember that you're eating with them (or should be!) and the "budget" feeds you as well. After accounting for extra utilities (we host all year round), we tend to save about half of what we're paid for the students. It's worth the effort for us. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions!
